Terms of Service
Draft Standard terms pending review by counsel in India and the US before launch.
The short version
Plain language · not legally binding- These terms cover the website, the public API and any Quarry account. They do not license any data.
- Data deals run on their own agreements (Data Licensing Terms, Supplier Terms, the Sample NDA), which win over these terms for the deal.
- You must be 18 or over and acting for a business or research organisation.
- Don't misuse the site: no scraping the catalogue, no probing our systems, no uploading data you don't have rights to.
- The site is provided as is, and our liability for it is capped.
- Indian law applies, with the courts at Bengaluru.
The numbered sections below are the terms that apply.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Quarry ("Quarry", "we", "us") operates quarrydata.ai, its documentation, its public API and feeds, and the accounts people use to work with us (together, the "Services"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Quarry about your use of the Services.
By using the Services you accept these Terms. If you use them for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" includes that organisation.
2. How these terms relate to deal agreements
These Terms do not grant any right to any dataset, sample or record. Access to data is governed only by the agreement for that deal:
- Buyers: the Data Licensing Terms and the order form for each licence, and the Sample NDA for samples.
- Data owners: the Supplier Terms and the listing schedule for each dataset.
- Where personal data is processed: the Data Processing Addendum.
If one of those agreements conflicts with these Terms, that agreement takes precedence for the deal it covers.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and use the Services for a business, research or professional purpose. The Services are not for consumers acting for personal purposes.
If you create an account, give accurate information, keep your credentials secure and tell us promptly at security@quarrydata.ai if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity under your account.
We may verify a lab or owner before granting access to restricted features such as API keys, samples or deal sheets, and may decline or withdraw access where verification fails.
4. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In particular you must not:
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the catalogue, demand board or documentation other than through the published feeds and API, within their rate limits;
- attempt to re-identify any person or link data to identify people;
- probe, scan or test the security of the Services except under our responsible disclosure policy;
- submit information you have no right to share, or that is false or misleading;
- interfere with the Services or other users' use of them.
5. Intellectual property in the site
The Services, including their text, design, figures, code and the Quarry name and wordmark, belong to Quarry or its licensors. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services for their intended purpose under these Terms.
Open-source components are licensed under their own terms. Public feeds and API responses may be used to evaluate and request data from Quarry; any other reuse needs our written permission.
If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
6. Information you send us
When you contact us, request data or list data, you keep ownership of what you send. You let us use it to respond, to match supply and demand, and to run the Services. How we handle personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Do not send us raw personal data from your archives through the website. Data owners share data only through the at-source process described in the Trust center.
7. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Catalogue entries, demand requests, estimates and documentation are provided for information. They are not offers, and nothing on the site is a commitment until it is in a signed agreement. Demand tiers from the value estimator are indicative only.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Quarry is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Services.
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Services under these Terms is limited to INR 10,000 or, if greater, the fees you paid Quarry for the Services (not under a deal agreement) in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if required by law, or to protect the Services or others. Sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive termination.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes are emailed to account holders at least 30 days before they take effect and flagged on this page. Earlier versions stay available from the versions link on this page.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them, except that either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court.
