Glossary
The terms used across Quarry's docs, deal sheets and agreements.
A
- At-source agent
- Quarry's de-identification pipeline packaged to run on the owner's infrastructure, as a container or an on-prem agent.
- At-source de-identification
- Removing personal data inside the owner's environment, before export, so raw data never reaches Quarry or the lab.
C
- Chain of title
- The link from every delivered record to the signed supplier agreement and the buyer licence that cover it.
- Code-mixed speech
- Speech that switches between languages within a conversation or a sentence, such as Hinglish.
- Contamination check
- A check that delivered data doesn't overlap public benchmarks, so evaluations stay meaningful.
D
- Datasheet
- The document that ships with every dataset: what it is, how it was made, its composition and its known limits.
- Deal sheet
- A dataset's page in the catalogue, with its ID, composition, data spec, provenance, licence options and commercials.
- Demand board
- The public board of open, anonymised lab requests at /demand.
- DICOM
- The standard format for medical images and their metadata.
E
- Exclusive licence
- A licence under which the dataset isn't licensed to other buyers for the agreed term and territory.
H
- Hash log
- The record of SHA-256 hashes of everything exported from the owner's environment, used to verify delivery.
L
- Listing ID
- A dataset's stable identifier, such as QD-7K2P.
M
- Manifest
- The per-record provenance file: one JSON record per delivered item.
N
- Non-exclusive licence
- A licence that leaves the owner free to license the same dataset to others.
O
- Owner
- The business that holds the data and licenses it through Quarry: a BPO, contact centre, bank, insurer, hospital, diagnostic chain or platform.
P
- Permitted use
- What a licence allows the buyer to do with the data, such as training or evaluation.
- Pseudonymous ID
- A stable stand-in for a patient, study or owner that keeps related records linked without identifying anyone.
R
- Request ID
- A demand-board request's identifier, such as RQ-0142.
- Residual risk
- The risk that remains, after de-identification, that someone could be re-identified. Assessed per dataset.
S
- Sample NDA
- The click-through agreement a lab accepts before receiving a sample.
- Supplier agreement
- The contract between an owner and Quarry: rights warranties, de-identification duties, revenue share and payout schedule.
