Deletion and revocation requests
What happens when an owner or an individual asks for data to be withdrawn.
An owner, or an individual who believes they're in a dataset, can ask for data to be withdrawn. Quarry withdraws it from the catalogue and every buyer holding it is bound to delete it.
Who can ask
- Owners, for any reason their supplier agreement allows, such as a rights problem found after listing.
- Individuals, if they believe their data is in a dataset. Requests go through the takedown page or the grievance officer.
What happens
- Quarry acknowledges the request and identifies the affected records.
- The records are withdrawn from the catalogue and from future deliveries.
- Every buyer holding them is notified with the
record_ids and must delete them, as their licence requires. - Each buyer confirms deletion in writing.
- Quarry confirms the outcome to the person who asked.
Response and deletion timelines are set in the takedown policy and in each licence.
For labs
Keep the manifest with the data. A withdrawal names records by record_id, so you can find and delete exactly those files.
